How do I best clean the freezer tray?

The tray and lid can be washed in warm soapy water or in the top rack of the dishwasher. Some scented washing products may leave a residue odor on silicone, so as with any silicone product, it is recommended to use mild dish soap or a mild, more natural, dishwasher detergent.

Is the tray and lid made of 100% food-grade silicone?

Both the Kiddo Feedo Freezer Tray and lid are made from 100% food-grade silicone which consists of four readily available and natural elements: oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and silicon; the second-most abundant element in the earth's crust (found in sands & dust).As a product this makes silicone the most natural material (besides glass) available for use with feeding children.Silicone in itself is non-porous, non-stick and has a scratch-resistant surface, unlike both plastic and bamboo, which means it can never trap or absorb any forms of bacteria, assuring safe and hygienic food prep and storage at all times. Furthermore, as a material, silicone is also naturally hypo-allergic and sterilised.Quality control inspections are utilised both internationally by the strict German LFGB, the European REACH and ROHS as well as in the USA by the FDA to ensure that the silicone we use meet and exceed all their strict standards, rules and regulations and is 100% safe to use in contact with any food. The silicone surpasses the FDA requirements for food-grade materials and exceeds the higher European standards for food safety.Finally, for customers peace of mind our freezer tray and lid have also been independently tested free of any common public concerns such as BPA's BPS, Phthalates, lead, latex, PVC, nitrosamines and other estrogen-mimicking chemicals and toxins commonly found in plastics, none which are present in producing food-grade silicone.

What temperature can the freezer tray sustain?

Since both the tray and lid are made of 100% food-grade silicone they can safely sustain temperatures as high as 446℉  / 230°C  and as low as -40℉ / -40°C. The product is safe to use in the freezer, oven, microwave and dishwasher.

How do I seal the silicone lid?

Accepted Answer

The silicone lid has eight flaps on its underside. To secure the lid, lift and wrap each flap around the edge of the tray to seal the lid securely and to prevent any spillages.If you are unsure how to do it, you can also find the lid application instructions on the inside of the product packaging.

How do I best remove each frozen food cube?

Here are a few recommended ways for easy removal of each portion:1. Leave the tray at room temperature for a couple of minutes, then turn the tray upside down and press the indented circle of the cube/portion that you wish to release.2. Turn the tray upside down and hold the cube/portion you want to pop out for a few seconds under warm running water and then press the indented circle of the cube you wish to release. 3. If you’re not sensitive to the cold, hold your warm hand around the portion/cube you wish to pop out, and slowly push it out.

How long can baby food be frozen for in the tray?

For optimal quality and nutrient retention, it is recommended to keep frozen baby food cubes in the freezer for a maximum of 3 months.For long-term storage we recommend transferring the cubes once frozen to either glass containers or ziplock bags that can easily be labeled.This way your tray is ready to use right away for a new food to store!

What is the best way to defrost the food cubes?

There are a few ways to defrost/thaw baby food:The slower option includes placing the frozen cube/s in a covered glass dish in the refrigerator until completely defrosted, then submerge that glass dish into a bowl of warm water to get to the desired temperature of the purée.The faster option includes defrosting the purée in a saucepan over low heat using the stove.For as much nutrients as possible to stay intact, these two ways are recommended.If you wish to use a microwave you can do that too. Do keep in mind though that with a microwave caution is needed as there are likely to be hot spots within the food that may burn your baby’s mouth. Babies mouths are more sensitive to heat than ours, so remember to always check the temperature of the food before serving it to your baby.For food safety concerns, it is not recommended to let purées defrost on the counter at room temperature.

What's the volume/dimensions of each cube and full tray?

VOLUME:Total volume of each cube: 2.6 oz / 75ml.Total capacity of a full tray: 23.4 oz / 675ml.Volume markings inside each cube: 30ml / 1oz and a 60ml / 2oz.The headspace required in each cube will vary depending on what foods you’re freeze, some food expand more than others whilst in the freezer, but as a general rule we find that if you leave about 1cm headspace you’re good to go with most foods.DIMENSIONS:Tray: H5 x W20 x D20cm / H2 x W8 x D8 inchesHeight / diameter of each cube: 2 inches / 5 cm.

Can I cook and bake in the freezer tray?

Yes, since both the tray and lid are made of 100% food-grade silicone they can safely handle temperatures up to 460°F / 230°C , in other words completely safe to use both in the oven, pressure cooker and microwave.

Can I write on the lid and it is washable if I do?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can most certainly label the contents on the lid with a ballpoint pen. In saying that, we recommend wiping off the ink with a warm cloth or wash the lid in some warm soapy water before placing the lid in the dishwasher, as some dishwasher detergents have been known to permanently stain the ink.
